Friday, April 10, 2009
But, being an economy hotel offering budget hotel rooms to divers and tourists alike, Palau Hotel can go as low as the rates that it currently offers. By booking through email or by calling tel no. (680) 488-1703 or 488-1704, everyone gets 20% discount from the regular rack rate in every type of room. The prices are really practical which is sure to be within the budget of every diver or tourist. We also know that price does not determine making your vacation or visit to Palau memorable, that’s why we make sure to give you a step ahead starting with a place to stay.
For now, Palau Hotel (F&B Palau Hotel) gives free airport pick & drop service for guests who booked via email or overseas call, is equipped with a Solar Water Heater so guests can have hot & cold shower every time throughout their stay, free internet access at the hotel lobby (bring your own laptop, not wireless but connection is much better), its own satellite dish for TV channels, refrigerator with free bottled mineral water, a hot and cold purified water dispenser, phone lines (no charges for local calls, for overseas you have to purchase a Debusch Card for $10), complimentary toiletries and use of safety deposit box at the hotel front desk for free. Just recently a power generator was purchased to ensure a continous power supply in times of power outages.
Stop waiting anymore, plan for your next dive destination in Palau, now! There is no better way to enjoy more dives than starting with getting the most practical hotel room price in Palau without comprising the amenities you need.

Lights are ON with POWER GENERATOR in Palau Hotel
Power outages in the island country of Palau are not a common thing, but when it does have blackouts on certain areas, it is a serious problem that needs to be remedied at once. Palau’s power is generated and distributed by Palau Public Utilities Corp. (PPUC) with power generators located in Malakal plant. But, just recently a couple of PPUC’s power engines broke down and problems in the power line from Aimeliik (a state in Palau) to Koror has caused power outages in some areas of Koror.
Since Monday of this week (April 6, 2009), a power rationing schedule is being followed thereby Ikelau Hamlet were Palau Hotel is located is scheduled to have power failure by 5:00pm to 9:00pm until PPUC could fix the problem, which according to them is within 2 weeks. Of course, hotels whether luxurious or economy like Palau Hotel and other businesses cannot let this particular problem hamper current operations. And though the power outage was scheduled at 5pm-9pm everyday (aside from power outages in the mornings, said to be emergencies), just 4 hours actually, you could only imagine what we all have to put up with.
A funny thing actually, we have anticipated the power to go off as scheduled at 5:00pm that day, so we could try how the generator works, but to everyone’s surprise, it did not! We were thinking perhaps the problem with PPUC's underwater cables in KB bridge has been fixed or any problem causing the power outages for that matter, but then again, it was not!
The power came off again yesterday Friday, April 10, 2009 at around 4: pm (an hour early from the released power outage rationing schedule). It took a little while for the generator to supply power since they had to finish the installation and stuffs. After that it was lights on again. Regular power came back on at around 9:00pm.
Now, Palau Hotel guests can be assured that they won’t have to endure hours of blackouts when these times come. With the power generator, there is no need to fret using candles and hand fans during blackouts. But don’t get us wrong, we do hope PPUC can fix whatever power problems this beautiful island country has.
